Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Bookort. By booking a court, listing a venue or creating an account, you agree to them.

Who you are dealing with

Bookort is a booking platform for sports venues. Two different people use it, and the terms treat them differently:

• A booker is somebody who finds and books a court, joins an Open Play session, or buys something from a venue's shop.
• A venue is a club or facility that lists its courts, sets its prices and policies, and takes bookings through Bookort.

Bookort is not a sports venue. It does not own courts, employ coaches, or run sessions. What happens on a court is between the booker and the venue.

What Bookort does with your money

Bookort is the merchant of record. When you pay for a booking, the payment is taken by Bookort, and Bookort appears on your card or bank statement — not the venue. Payments are processed by PayMongo; Bookort does not see or store your card details.

Bookort then holds that money and credits it to the venue's balance, less a platform fee. The venue withdraws from that balance. This matters for two practical reasons:

• A refund is issued by Bookort, on the venue's instruction and under the venue's cancellation policy.
• A query about a charge goes to Bookort first, because Bookort made it.

Some venues take payment at the counter instead, in cash. Money handed over at a venue is the venue's from the moment it is handed over; Bookort records it so the books balance, but never held it.

What the venue decides, not Bookort

Each venue sets its own:

• prices, including peak rates, member rates and any service charge
• opening hours, and which courts are bookable when
• cancellation and rescheduling policy, including any deadline and what is refunded
• terms of entry, house rules, and its own privacy notice where it has one

Bookort shows you the venue's cancellation policy before you book and records the version in force at the moment you booked. A venue that changes its policy afterwards has not changed what you agreed to.

Your account

You need an account to book online. You are responsible for what happens under it, and for keeping your sign-in details to yourself. Tell us promptly if you think somebody else has used it.

You must give accurate contact details. A venue needs to be able to reach you about the booking you made, and a booking made with somebody else's details is one they cannot honour.

Bookings, holds and payment

Choosing courts places a hold on them for a short period while you pay. A hold is not a booking. If payment does not arrive before the hold expires, the courts go back on sale and anybody may book them.

Once payment succeeds, the booking is confirmed and the courts are yours for the times shown.

Cancellations and refunds

Cancellations are governed by the venue's policy, which is shown on the venue's page and applies as it stood when you booked. Refunds are set out in the [Refunds and Cancellations](/legal/refunds) policy.

Vouchers and credit

A venue may issue voucher codes that reduce the price of a booking, and credit that can be spent at that venue later. Both belong to the venue that issued them: credit is held at one venue and cannot be moved to another, and a voucher applies only where its issuer says it does. Neither is money, neither is exchangeable for cash, and both may expire on terms the venue sets when issuing them.

What you may not do

The [Acceptable Use Policy](/legal/acceptable-use) sets out what is not allowed. Breaking it may cost you your account.

Availability

Bookort aims to keep the service running and does not promise it always will. Maintenance, faults and things outside anyone's control happen. Where a booking cannot go ahead because Bookort failed, you get your money back.

Liability

Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

Subject to that, Bookort is not liable for what happens at a venue, for a venue's own acts or omissions, or for indirect or consequential loss. Where Bookort is liable for a booking, its liability is limited to the amount you paid for it.

Changes

These terms may change. Where a change materially affects you, we will say so rather than only moving the date at the top. Continuing to use Bookort after a change means you accept it.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.
